The Fort Seward Summer Arts Program

The Fort Seward Summer Arts Program features a series of participatory educational programs with various local and visiting art professionals in a variety of mediums. In addition to individually arranged classes in: figure drawing, painting, pastels, carving and jewelry making by local artists, a number of specialty workshops will take place. These include: glass blowing and forming by Pike Powers of Pilchuck School; wood sculpture and Northwest Design by David Svenson; Chilkat Blanket Weaving by Clarissa Hudson; silk screen printing and graphic design by Chris Nowicki and Tran Pohl. Internships & Apprenticeships

In addition, internships in theater arts, and apprenticeships in carving and art are available with Tresham Gregg and the Chilkat Dancers Storytelling Theater. Thisis an internship program for a few select students with aptitudes in movement, costuming, art and craft skills, acting and creative thinking to spend a summer in idyllic Southeast Alaska producing experimental storytelling theater. This should be an excellent and inspiring experience for students who are interested in a career in theater, dance or the tactile arts.
