Spirit Dance
Journey

At Haines, Alaska in
Historic Fort Seward.
National Historic Landmark
Join with other
dance oriented journeyers to the Supernatural Chilkat Valley of Eagles,
power place of the Northern Tlingit Nation, for a week of fun
adventure, connection with spirit , dance, movement, masking and
artistic experiment, ritual, ceremony, and drumming. Come away with a
renewed sense of connection to your inner creative self and personal
inspiration.
The Fort Seward Summer Arts Program
The Fort Seward Summer Arts Program features a series of
participatory educational programs with various local and visiting art
professionals in a variety of mediums. In addition to individually
arranged classes in: figure drawing, painting, pastels, carving and
jewelry making by local artists, a number of specialty workshops will
take place. These include: glass blowing and forming by Pike Powers of
Pilchuck School; wood sculpture and Northwest Design by David Svenson;
Chilkat Blanket Weaving by Clarissa Hudson; silk screen printing and
graphic design by Chris Nowicki and Tran Pohl. Contact us for times and

Internships &
Apprenticeships
In addition, internships in
theater arts, and apprenticeships in carving and art are available with
Tresham Gregg and the Chilkat Dancers Storytelling Theater. Thisis an
internship program for a few select students with aptitudes in
movement, costuming, art and craft skills, acting and creative thinking
to spend a summer in idyllic Southeast Alaska producing experimental
storytelling theater. This should be an excellent and inspiring
experience for students who are interested in a career in theater,
dance or the tactile arts.
Experience the Northwest Coast Indian Art and Legends;
Participate in Native Legend storytelling
Theatre show;
Help create a new experimental stage show;
Learn mask making, costuming, movement, Native
art;
Assistant teach and direct for the Summer Youth
Theatre Conservatory;
Experiment with puppetry;
Participate in sound, light and video
production;
Housing provided and wages will be offered.
All while embracing the beauty,
grandeur and inspiration of Summerime in Southeast Alaska
Interns will work
under the direction and guidance of
Haines Artist Tresham Gregg a Master of Northwest Coast Native Art,
Masked Dance Theatre, mask making, costuming and sculpture.

Workshop
Children's Theater
Workshop takes place for three weeks in July. The Haines Summer Youth
Conservatory is a great opportunity for children ages 8 to 16 spend
three weeks learning drama techniques, voice, movement, stage combat,
etc. culminating in a childrens' theater production.
